How to: Achieve Pretty Pineapple Rings

4.18.2012

What's my trick, you ask?!  ......

A medicine cup!!
(Please don't tell me this isn't anything new... I was quite impressed with myself!  I am not sure it is any easier than cutting it out manually, but sure does make some pretty pineapple rings!)
When we have purchased pineapple in the past, it was always the pre-cut packaged kind.  Just the thought of buying a whole pineapple was exhausting!  Have you had that feeling?  1. I had no clue how to do it and 2. it just plain looked like a whole lotta work!  Well, you can imagine my dismay when my husband bought a whole pineapple a few weeks back!

But, thank heavens for Google!  Yes, I did it!  I figured out how to cut a whole pineapple!  Since that first pineapple, we've bought several more...  I think it's safe to say that I am a Pineapple Cutter-Upper Queen!

Anyways... so here is how I use the medicine cup:

Chop off the top and bottom of your pineapple and slice off the skin.

You'll need to make your pineapple slices about 1/2 inch thick--- any more and the medicine cup would be too much work!
Once you have cut your slices, just push the medicine cup into the center and...
Voila!

But pretty nifty don't you think?!  I thought so!

  1. Dropped by from UBP. One best cut for pineapples is what you did. Like - "fresh from the can". Got plenty here in Hawaii.

    Aloha,
Stopping by to visit/ follow from the UBP. I'd love it if you visited us at localsugarhawaii.com. The view from atop this wave is beautiful and would be even sweeter if you were on board. If you bring the little medicine cuppy I'll pick some pineapple to share. ;)
