You could teach fractions by making a mess in the kitchen, but sometimes mama just doesn't want to deal with that.  You could also resort to boring ol' worksheets.  Or you could learn by playing a game!  Math games make learning a new concept way more fun!  Enjoy learning about fractions with Fractions BINGO! 

This game is ideal for 3rd or 4th graders, but is easy enough to play that 2nd graders will have fun, too!

Once you have introduced your child to fractions, play this fun fractions game to reinforce the concept.  Fractions Bingo is the perfect way to sneak in some fraction fun into your daily homeschool lessons for your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grader!

Your child will get hands-on practice by coloring in the fraction circles during this fun math game!

To play you'll need:

How to Play this BINGO Fractions Math Game

Before playing, review with the players that fractions represent parts of a whole.  Parts = numerator; Whole = denominator.

Each player will need a gameboard.  Player 1 rolls the dice.

If a 2 and 4 are rolled, the smaller number is the numerator and the larger number is the denominator.  Thus we have our Whole (4) and Parts (2), so one would color in 2 parts of the of the circle cut in fourths.  Player 1 will look for a circle cut into fourths and color 2 parts.

OR an older child who has learned equivalent fractions might realize that it is also the same as 1/2.

Similar conversions can be made with a whole circle for  fractions 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5, 6/6 as they represent a whole.

For instance, if  two 6's were rolled, one might realize that that equals a whole circle.  The circle cut into sixths could also be colored in, too.

Fractions BINGO is great for all kinds of learners-- visual, kinesthetic, and tactile!  This BINGO game will help your visual learner SEE what a fraction represents.  It will help your kinesthetic and tactile learners by getting them moving (rolling the dice can get pretty crazy! ha!) and coloring in the fractions.

Once Player 1 has taken his/her turn, Player 2 rolls the dice.

First to get five in a row- up or down, across, or diagonally-- wins!  Make sure to call out, "BINGO!"
