Dr. Seuss Treat | Pink Yink Ink Drink

Planning to do anything fun to celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday on March 2nd?  We'll save the cake, balloons, hand-made signs, and streamers for our family's birthdays, but we can still have fun remembering the late author with a special treat!

From the Green Eggs and Ham cookbook, whip up this fun drink recipe: Pink Yink Ink!

Dr. Seuss treat Pink Yink Ink Drink

One book that I picked up from the library is the "Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook."  It has quite a collection of different foods to make to go along with pretty much every Seuss book available; it is a cool resource.  I planned on making a Pink Yink Ink Drink next week to go along with "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," but let the cat out of the bag too early-- and since I told Big Brother we were going to "drink ink" the other night, that is all he's wanted to do!  So, we made it a week early!

Dr. Seuss Food Idea

I have a few more fun food ideas planned for Dr. Seuss week from this book, but my lips are sealed (Dr. Seuss's birthday is March 2nd).  If I say anything, I might spill the beans to him.... Which means he'll want make whatever it is now, and then I won't have any ideas for next week!

Stay tuned!  But I say, check right now to see if your library has this book!

Ready to drink some ink?  Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 cup blackberries, divided (we used frozen, but slightly thawed would blend better)
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. honey + more for drizzle (we like honey!)
  • blender

First, blend 1/2 the blackberries, and 1/2 cup of milk.   Pour the mixture into several large cups and clean out the blender.  This is your "ink"

Next, blend the strawberries, 1/2 cup of milk, and honey.  Pour the mixture on top of the blackberry "ink."

Grab the book, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and enjoy the story while sipping on your own Pink Yink Ink Drink!!

Dr. Seuss Food Idea

I was trying to get him to wink while drinking a Pink Yink Ink Drink and this is what I got!  It is a bit tricky to wink and drink Pink Ink at the same time!
