Grandkids Picture Sign {DIY}

11.30.2013

Taking a break today from sharing our school time snippets to share with you a Craft Time Snippet!

When I am not schooling along with the kiddos, I love to craft!  I've shared lots of other crafty projects on this blog over the last two years.

If you follow along, I hope you don't mind my every once and a while craft time snippets!!  Schooling... crafting... it is what I enjoy!

If you are just here to check out this post, you may like these crafty projects, too:

This was actually a craft project that I completed back in December 2012!!  Better late than never, right?!  Ha!

I saw this on Pinterest {DUH!} and knew it would be the perfect gift for my momma!   I might just make one that says "Kiddos" or "Family" and hang it up in our house.  My favorite part about this picture sign is that it is so easy to swap out pictures because you are using clothes pins... GENIUS!!

I am going on memory of how I did this, so bare with me!  Check out EmmyMOM for details on how she made hers.  Such a fun project!  And if making it as a gift, it will surely bring wide smiles and maybe a happy tear or two!!

What You'll Need:

DIY Gift for Grandparents

Once you have your supplies, this could be finished in a day.

To do that, you'll want to paint your wooden letters and clothespins first because you may need a second coat.

While the paint is drying, modge podge the scrapbook paper to your canvas.  I tried creating a "collage" effect with my scrapbook paper, but since it was the same paper I am not sure you can tell unless you are up close and personal.

Once everything is good and dry, glue your embellishments onto the clothespins... the letters onto your canvas... and finally the clothespins to the bottom of the canvas.

Take note of spacing everything too!

Because my chosen paint color for the letters was pretty "blah" I added "stitch marks" to the letters with permanent marker (careful of smudges though!).
