The Ultimate Guide to Crafting & Learning with Buttons

1.25.2014

I love craft supplies; in fact, I am a craft supply "junkie!" The closet in my school room is full of stickers, feathers, foam, ribbon, tissue paper, paint.... etc. etc! So I am thrilled to be part of a special series put together by George over at Craftulate-- The Ultimate Guide to 50 Craft Materials.  post may contain affiliate links.

I hope you have been following along, and if I am your first stop in this series, Welcome!  Today I am focusing on learning and crafting with buttons!!
Buttons are not the cheapest craft material around, but they are so versatile!  They come in all different sizes, shapes, and colors. They are great for crafting AND learning! I always keep a stash of buttons because when we are not crafting with them, they make great manipulatives-- especially for math.  You can use them to:
  • sort by size, shape, and/or color
  •  use them to count 1:1
  • add/ subtract
  • practice grouping/ division
  • make patterns
  • skip count by 2's, 3's, etc!
And here are some more ways we have used buttons to craft and/or learn:
