Pumpkin Decorating Idea for Kids: Melted Crayon Pumpkins
A few weekends ago the kids took their annual pumpkin farm trip with my parents to pick out their pumpkins, and as of just yesterday... we had yet to do anything with them. Big Brother has been feeling under the weather (you'll be thankful that I'm not disclosing details!) and we keep forgetting to buy proper pumpkin cutting gear when out and about. But with Halloween a couple days away, we had to do something! I checked my Fall/ Thanksgiving Pinterest board and found the perfect activity-- Crayon Melt Pumpkins from Sense of Wonder.
We have done a crayon melt activity before with Big Brother's name-- it is such a neat activity! Easy. Fun. Simple!
And we had a slew of broken, un-wrapped crayons, so this worked out perfect!
- broken crayons
- glue gun
- blow dryer
- large empty box
Big Brother took charge of the glue gun a couple times, but just keep a watchful eye... hot glue hurts, so make sure it is a low-heat glue gun if little hands are involved!
When you are ready to melt the crayons, put the pumpkin in a box or else you will have crayon melt splatters all over everything.
The longest task is prepping the crayons. You'll need to take the wrapper of each crayon. Once the crayons are un-wrapped, use the glue gun to glue them around the stem of the pumpkin.
